I get asked this question from everyone and often, and the question is always in the back of my mind: Where to next? Truthfully, I usually don’t have an answer. The thing is, I never plan my trips way in advance like most people do. Because I am afflicted with WanderLust with so many places on my bucket list, I never feel the need to plan my travels way in advance. I choose places on a whim. If I see an article in a magazine or a beautiful picture of a place, I research it, and if the airfare is reasonable and I find a hotel that piques my interest, then I just do it. Because I’m single and I don’t have to consult a partner, and because I don’t have friends afflicted with wanderlust, I have complete freedom in planning my travels this way as most of my trips end up being solo.
The other day I saw a TV commercial which showed a man on a train with a scenic background. Then I thought about my spectacular train ride to Machu Picchu. The three hour plus ride really, honestly, felt like I was ascending to heaven. Then the thought of my train ride to Florence with the Tuscan landscape by my side tugged at my heart. They were so relaxing and wonderful, with gorgeous scenery that it made me open up my laptop to research “the best train rides in the world.” My Google results came back with such adjectives like: scenic, jaw dropping, epic. How could I not research further and allow my mind to wander and dream?
As with all passions, my WanderLust must be quenched. It’s just a matter of time…
