Chicago’s Winter WanderLust

Something has been nudging me to to go Navy Pier for some time now to take a picture of the Ferris wheel…at night.  I don’t know why I chose tonight as it’s 30 degrees outside, and with the wind chill, I am sure it was colder.  I swiftly walked and felt a little nervous as it was dark, I was alone, and there were hardly any people around.  But I braved the weather and my fear to take some pictures.  Besides, I needed the practice since I don’t have many night time shots.  Who knows?  Maybe the photo contest that I will enter in the future will be from tonight’s “winning” shot.

When I walked through the main entrance,  it was as if the travel gods were speaking directly to me.  Why on earth would there be an American Airlines flight guidepost (picture below) at Navy Pier, a family theme park, and why would I happen to see this at night when my only mission was to take a picture of the Ferris wheel?  American Airlines is also my primary airline (although I’m still mad at them for losing my luggage en route to Barcelona).  I took this vision as a sign for me to continue to travel, as if I needed the “push.”   My thoughts are clear and simple:

Haven’t been to Dublin, Rio, or Tokyko…yet.
Is this a sign???

Did you know Chicago had the first,
original Ferris wheel?

A winter wonderland–Chicago style!
