I stopped by a store today and saw beautiful candle holders, crystal, porcelain, as well as other innumerable items for decorating the home. I considered buying a gorgeous candle holder but then stopped myself as I thought about the recent souvenirs I got from Prague as well as Istanbul. No matter how beautiful, it will be hard for me to buy decorative items for my home unless I buy them while traveling. Looking as I write this at the hand sewn pillow case and the hand painted bottle I got from Turkey, as well as my newly acquired Gustav Klimt inspired candle holders and vase, I decided that I only want to acquire decorative items while traveling. It brings on SUCH evocative memories that give me a rush of happiness and pleasure when I look at my souvenirs. I am instantly transported back in time to each fabulous place. And how cool and interesting is it when you visit someone’s home and you admire something from their collection and they tell you they got it in Africa or Asia, for example, along with a wonderful story behind it? For sure, the stories are always somewhat amazing…
As I drink a glass of red wine from the glass I got from Prague, I dream about all the beauty in this world. I dream about the beauty that is meant to be seen, in person, in distant lands…and I dream about some of the beauty that I will bring back home with me. Here’s to the wonderful world of travel and the wonder it beholds…
