As I responded to the Turkish doctor last night, I received another email from him upon awakening this morning. He said he would be glad to send me some Turkish delight now IF I can’t wait until March. He also said that he would know the exact dates for his trip to Chicago in a couple of weeks. He was shocked that I asked about his mother in last night’s email. I’m not sure what made me ask him about her but I’m glad I did as he took time in explaining how she was coping with her MS, a disease she has had for 20 years. Since I’m sure the Turkish doctor is busy with his work schedule, I will wait until March for him to personally bring me some Turkish delight.
Because I went to bed with sweets on my mind, I woke up, of course, wanting something sweet sometime during the day. I didn’t get a chance to get my sweet fix until after I got off work, and I ended up walking into Vosges Haut-Chocolat. And there I saw a chocolate skull lollipop called “Barcelona!” Of course, I had to buy one. When I got home I Googled the owner of the chocolatier, Katrina Markoff, and it turns out that she started her career in Spain, being inspired by her travels to create unique flavors. Wow! I want to be her BFF!
While walking home I thought about my Barcelona lollipop as well as all the beautiful thoughts of my travel there. Then I realized that I must share my souvenir that I brought back. As today’s weather in Chicago dipped more than 30 degrees from yesterday’s temps, I absolutely missed Barcelona’s spectacular weather. I MISS BARCELONA! Period!
