It has been very difficult to write lately.  With Instagram and Twitter, as well as having an iPhone and iPad, I am addicted to instant gratification, as is the rest of the modern world.  In current times, it is becoming more and more difficult to be patient, to take things slow, and to enjoy the luxury of reading a good book or writing a well thought-out blog post.   There are numerous articles on digital detoxing lately,  but as I write this, I am loving the way the keyboard on my MacBook Air feels, and I love the clicking noise with each letter I type!  I guess my passion for the written word will continue even when I’m not traveling.  Besides, I cannot write about travel all the time (I wish I could) since I cannot travel all the time.  Again, I wish I could!  So my love for the written word (in other words, RANDOM) will have to be enough from time to time instead of just travel related blog posts here…

The most important thing about writing, I believe, is the TRUTH.  I’m always enamored with the TRUTH and the PURITY of things, people, and everything else around me.  So to see Twitter messages from travel bloggers, for example, where they are promoting a place/hotel, and it is obvious that they are getting paid to do so, is making me doubt my dream desire of becoming a travel writer/blogger one day.  Certain things in this world should be pure and true, and I believe the written word should be one of them.

So as I become a social media addict, I must find more time to write.  Again, there is more truth to writing and the written word as, for example, on Instagram most people add filters to their photos to make them look more appealing.  Of course, I’m guilty of this!  This embellishment process is readily available to everyone, but it takes much more patience and creativity to write the written word.  In fact, it is more painful at times as well as way more time consuming, but, absolutely more fulfilling…and, again, truthful.  Although I don’t get the instant “Likes” on this blog as I do on each Instagram post, the happiness and pride I feel from the power of the written word is much deeper and longer lasting than the instant, quick highs of Instagram and Twitter.  I’m not denying that I’m an Instagram and Twitter addict.  Far from it… I’m admitting it!  But the power of the written word is…written from my heart…#tbt (truth be told).
