Bruce Springsteen at Wrigley Field

I don’t know why I was crazy enough to buy a pair of Prada boots thinking that Bruce Springsteen would actually see me wearing them.  Yes, a few hours before the concert I bought a pair of new boots, imagining in my head that The Boss would bring me up on stage to sing or dance with him, letting everyone admire my new boots on stage.  Then, my mind went further by having him serenade me with the song, DRIVE ALL NIGHT.  If you now the song, Bruce sings, “I swear I’ll drive all night just to buy you some shoes.”  Ok, if I found a man that would actually do this, I would marry him, I swear, in a heartbeat!  Well, although I bought the boots, I never ended up wearing them because it was so hot and humid for a September night.  Oh, well…I’m sure I’ll find a reason to wear them later…

The Boss looked better than ever, and I was surprised to learn that he was 62 years old.  While I Googled this information at Wrigley Field, the concert venue, I told my girlfriend (who was next to me) his age and she said, “I would do him.”  Um, yeah.  Who wouldn’t want a guitar playing musician with a deep voice, in great shape, and who is an icon?  And the fact that he brought a young girl on stage, maybe about 7 or 8 years old to sing with him, made him even more likeable.  As I am fearful of crowds, I always leave early at concerts so I don’t have to deal with mobs of people walking along beside me.  So I was glad I got to hear THUNDER ROAD, BORN TO RUN, HUNGRY HEART, and DANCING IN THE DARK near the end.  Also, we thought it was cool that Eddie Vedder was a guest on stage, a total surprise!  As my dinner consisted of 3 beers (so unlike me), french fries, and a pretzel, I was still hungry when I left Wrigley.  It was after midnight when I got out of the train station.  As I made a spontaneous decision to go to Pinkberry to satisfy my hunger, I walked home in the cool night feeling blessed that I was living in Chicago, with Bruce singing to me in my head…
